In an immersive journey, carried by an intimate, powerful, and serious scenography, visitors will discover the works of 58 African and diaspora artists in this year’s 15th Dakar Biennale from 7th November to December 7th, 2024. Sierra Leonean artist, Masud Olufani is among the 58 and will showcase his talents and his country’s rich arts history.

The artistic selection of this edition illustrates extraordinary African creativity with a diversity of mediums, techniques, and artistic universes. From illustration arts to virtual reality, sound arts, sculpture, and photography, the selection process was guided by a commitment to inclusivity, in a search for balance that transcends the boundaries of matter, expression, and thought that would be structured around the theme “The Wake, l’Éveil, Xàll wi”.

In addition, a vernissage as part of the OFF program will be hosted at the Sierra Leone Embassy in Dakar on 9th November in collaboration with a collective of Sierra Leonean artists and art lovers. It is the first group exhibition of Sierra Leonean artists and the first time the Embassy of Sierra Leone is opening its doors to welcome Biennale visitors.
