A Community Charitable organization based in Freetown, started in October 2019 with the word, small charity has a big impact, has celebrated its fifth anniversary over the weekend at AFTEC Hall, Wilberforce. Over the past five years, the organization has made several donations to the aged in different communities around Freetown ranging from Food, Medical service, and Clothing.
Reflecting on the event, Executive Director Karifa Thoronka stated that, their five-year journey as a charity organization was not just about providing for the aged but also showing concern for them’ he continued by saying that the event is a celebration of that journey, and they are proud to use the opportunity to give back to the community.
In his keynote address, Dr. Claudius William Tucker advises young people to plan their lives so that they will age with dignity and further encourages them to take good care of their elderly people in societies, as they need more attention.
While noting the financial constraint during the five years, Musa Jabati the Financial Coordinator for the organization says that they have been facing many challenges for sponsors, he said that in previous years they have been sending several letters requesting sponsors but only a few responded. He continues by appealing to business houses and individuals to support charity work in Sierra Leone, especially the vulnerable older people. Musa ended by thanking 34 Military Hospital and Premium Divine Trading for their consistence support towards the foundation.
The ceremony was climaxed with entertainment by the military brass ban followed by the distribution of gifts to the beneficiaries after refreshing all attendees.
